Not every landscaping job is about making something flashy. Sometimes, it’s about uncovering what’s already there, restoring it with intention, and giving it a second life. That’s exactly what this front yard project was about.

A Closer Look Beneath the Surface
At first glance, this bed just looked overgrown and a little tired. But once I got into it, it told a different story. Buried underneath were six full layers of weed mat, tucked under and between the castle rock edging like a sealed container. Someone built it to last and to their credit, it did incredible.
Most people don’t see the details under the surface, but that’s where the real difference happens.
Reuse. Rebuild. Revive.
I dismantled the whole bed, rough-sifted all the rock by hand, and separated what could be saved. That original stone? It was cleaned and reused with no unnecessary waste. We kept the base layer intact since it was still solid and working just fine.
Fresh soil was added up top, and I planted a selection of low-maintenance, high-impact plants that’ll thrive without turning into a jungle.
This job wasn’t about fancy design, it’s about doing it right, respecting what worked, and giving it all a fresh, functional look.

What’s Next: Pressure Washing & Spiral Tree Trim
You’ll notice the castle rock border still looks a little weathered and that’s by design. It’s getting the full pressure washing treatment next, alongside a fence job we’re doing on the same property. Once cleaned, that stone is going to pop. The tree in the middle of the bed will also be getting a fresh trim into a clean spiral form to finish the look.
This is what we do, landscaping with care and craft, not shortcuts.
